
State local government and housing minister Masidi Manjun said sporadic or community infections were still the biggest contributor, accounting for 64.2% of the cases.
He said 13 out of the 27 districts in the state now had triple-digit infections, led by Kota Kinabalu with 904 cases, followed by Penampang (513), Sandakan (459), Tuaran (444) and Papar (347), among others.
He also said a cumulative 41 Covid-19 clusters had been discovered in Sabah so far this year, with three new school clusters detected today.
They were the Batu Enam cluster in Kota Belud, and the Jalan Sugut and Kemburongoh 2 clusters in Ranau.
Masidi added that one of the clusters, the Jalan Kepayan Tambunan cluster, ended today. It involved SMK Tambunan, which was the first school cluster detected this year.
He said a 15-year-old girl student triggered the Batu Enam cluster at the SMK Taun Gusi 2, adding 18 other people have been found infected so far.
Meanwhile, a 39-year-old female teacher was the index case in the Jalan Sugut cluster, involving SMK Ulu Sugut, with 48 found to be infected so far.
He added that a 52-year-old security guard triggered the Kemburongoh 2 cluster, with 53 others testing positive for Covid-19 so far.
