PETALING JAYA:
Police will investigate the case of a Muslim preacher and his entourage seen walking at the airport in Kota Bharu without wearing face masks.

Kota Bharu acting district police chief Suhaimi Ali said police would investigate the incident which went viral on Twitter.

“We will launch an investigation into this allegation,” he told FMT.

A Twitter user, @shrimp113, shared an image yesterday of at least five men walking without masks in front of an outlet at the airport.

“Whoever this public figure is, he should be compounded for not wearing a mask along with his followers at Sultan Ismail Petra Airport, Kota Bharu, around 1740 hours on Feb 15, 2022. Please take action @Khairykj. We were so uncomfortable trying to get to our gate.”

Offenders under the Prevention and Control of Infectious Diseases Act 1988 (Act 342), including those who fail to wear a face mask, can be fined a maximum of RM1,000.
