In a Facebook post, Lokman said he had filed his defence on Friday, Feb 11, through his lawyer.
He also said his lawyer had handed the document to the counsel representing shariah chief judge Na’im Mokhtar on the same day.
Na’im is suing Lokman for defamation over remarks in relation to a sexual harassment case.
“Hence, I believe that FMT’s report is wrong and would like to know the source of the information,” he said in response to FMT’s report on the case earlier today.
FMT is standing by its report which is based on an application filed by Messrs Akberdin & Co at the registry yesterday.
Akberdin Abdul Kadir, appearing for Na’im, also confirmed that Lokman did not file his defence within the stipulated time.
Na’im filed for a RM30 million default judgment after Lokman failed to file his defence despite the High Court giving him an extended deadline until last Friday.
He is seeking RM10 million each for exemplary, aggravated and punitive damages with 5% interest to be included until the judgment sum is paid.
Na’im had previously claimed he had been implicated in several sexual harassment cases, including one where he was said to have been lying nude in a bedroom of a woman’s home.
He said the alleged defamatory statements which Lokman made on social media implied that he was a “religious opportunist”, had failed to be a credible leader, or set a good example for the community, and had tarnished the good image of the shariah judiciary department.
