This was confirmed by MACC chief commissioner Azam Baki today.
“We will summon all five officers tomorrow,” he told FMT.
Previously, MACC said it had recorded statements from at least 10 people regarding the case.
Azam also stressed that the investigation into claims of abuse of power and integrity issues by the five officers was not guided by allegations made by “external parties”, but would only be based on what was reported to MACC.
“MACC will investigate (the case) based on what has been reported to MACC, not what was produced by Edisi Siasat or any other party,” he said, referring to the Twitter account that initially did an expose on the allegations.
Edisi Siasat had leaked a letter purportedly from Mara Corp executive director Suhaili Abd Rahman alleging that five senior officers had abused their positions to receive certain claims and allowances.
Local daily Berita Harian reported that the five officers had denied the allegations and lodged a police report on the matter.
MACC carried out a preliminary probe on Monday by visiting three Mara-linked offices to obtain certain documents. The anti-graft agency also questioned several witnesses over the past few days.
Yesterday, former Mara Corp chairman Akhramsyah Muammar Ubaidah Sanusi suggested that those who leaked the internal document should be investigated and sacked.
“The irresponsible individual who did that should be investigated and sacked,” he said in a forum organised by Persatuan Pengguna Islam Malaysia (PPIM).
Today, when asked if MACC would find the perpetrator, Azam said it’s best for police to investigate that aspect.
“Whether we should investigate who leaked the letter from within Mara (Corp), I think that falls under the jurisdiction of the police,” he said.
