PETALING JAYA:
Former prime minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad said there were times he was not hopeful of making a recovery when he was admitted to the National Heart Institute (IJN) last month.

In a video posted on Twitter today, the Langkawi MP thanked everyone who prayed for his recovery.

He also thanked IJN for the treatment which helped him to recover from a “terrible” disease.

“I can eat, walk and sleep. I am almost well but cannot do any work at the moment. But I will recover,” he said in a frail voice.

Mahathir was warded at IJN’s coronary care unit on Jan 22 and moved to a normal ward four days later.

On Feb 1, he was allowed to return home during the day in between treatment and physiotherapy sessions at IJN.

He was discharged from IJN on Feb 5.
