Kelantan mufti Shukri Mohamed said claims on social media on possible side effects from the vaccination had caused worry and reluctance among some parents to register their children for the vaccination.
He said the vaccination of children aged 5-11 had also been endorsed by the National Fatwa Council Committee.
“What we’re seeing now is that all over the world, children have already started taking the vaccines and they have been proven to be good for them.
“We’ve seen that they are effective for the majority of adults who have taken the first, second and third doses,” Shukri said.
“The people should not be unduly worried. Before this pandemic, vaccines had been given to children against various diseases but why didn’t the people make noise against those vaccines?” he said.
