Rozman, who left Umno in 2018 to join Warisan, was slapped with a graft charge last year over a company that was given a contract when he was the Labuan Port Authority deputy chairman five years ago. The company was alleged to be linked to his brother and father. Rozman pleaded not guilty.
According to a court document filed by Rozman today, he claimed that to escape any charges, a Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) officer had urged him during questioning to leave Warisan and support the leader of the PN coalition.
He said he was later offered a deputy minister’s post at the federal territories ministry and the presidency of a local government authority if he joined a PN component party.
Rozman said the charge against him was a form of reprisal for refusing to join the ruling government.
“Until today, all Warisan MPs including me have refused to support the government and have never entered into any MoUs with the federal government,” he said in his affidavit calling for his case to be dismissed.
Rozman’s lawyer, Muhammad Rafique Rashid Ali, said the motion to dismiss the case would be heard on March 2.
