JPJ director-general Zailani Hashim said statistics from the traffic investigation and enforcement department and JPJ showed that 80% of road accidents were due to human negligence.
He said JPJ had plans to insert a code in driving licences to identify which driving school that a driver had attended.
The idea is still in the planning stage and is expected to be included in the e-Testing system to be introduced in April.
Zailani said the records showed that there were 10,569 certified driving instructors in Malaysia. “However, there is a backlog of 1,779 applications due to Covid-19 restrictions on activities such as courses, seminars and workshops,” he said.
