KUALA LUMPUR:
Former deputy prime minister Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail arrived at Bukit Aman at 3.25pm to give her statement over a probe into the book My Story: Justice in the Wilderness by former attorney-general Tommy Thomas.

More than 30 supporters, including several elected representatives from PKR, showed up outside the federal police headquarters in a show of solidarity for the Pandan MP.

They included her daughter, Permatang Pauh MP Nurul Izzah Anwar, Petaling Jaya MP Maria Chin Abdullah, Kapar MP Abdullah Sani Abdul Hamid and Wangsa Maju MP Tan Yee Kew.

Earlier, Bukit Aman criminal investigation department director Abdul Jalil Hassan said this was a “normal procedure in any investigation”.

It was reported that a special task force investigating allegations by Thomas in his book held its first meeting here on Dec 23.

The team is understood to be looking into several allegations, including the appointment of judges, excessive interference by the executive in the judiciary, and selective prosecution.

Thomas’ book, published early last year, has been criticised by various parties, including the Attorney-General’s Chambers, lawyers, politicians and the public, for allegedly containing elements of incitement, insult and slander.
