Don’t heed rumours on Dr M’s condition, says Marina

Marina Mahathir thanks all well-wishers who sent greetings for the former prime minister's speedy recovery.

This is the third time Dr Mahathir Mohamad has been admitted to IJN since December.
PETALING JAYA:
The public should pay no attention to the rumours surrounding former prime minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad’s condition, his daughter Marina said today.

In a statement, she said Mahathir is still being treated at the National Heart Institute (IJN).

“On behalf of Tun Dr Siti Hasmah Mohd Ali, we as a family would like to thank all parties who have organised prayer ceremonies and yasin recitations, as well as people from various religions who have sent prayers and greetings for Tun Dr Mahathir’s speedy recovery,” she said.

“We also hope members of the public do not heed rumours spread by unverified sources.

“IJN and Tun Dr Mahathir’s family will issue statements from time to time.”

This is Mahathir’s third admission to IJN since December.

He had undergone a full medical check-up in December and was kept for six days for further observation. Early this month, he returned to IJN for an elective procedure.

Mahathir has undergone two heart bypass surgeries in 1989 and 2007.
