KUALA LUMPUR:
Prime Minister Ismail Sabri Yaakob arrived at the National Heart Institute (IJN) this afternoon to visit former prime minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad, who is currently being treated at the Coronary Care Unit (CCU).

He arrived at IJN at 5.35pm and waved to members of the media stationed outside.

Earlier today, a spokesman for the Langkawi MP had confirmed that Mahathir was at IJN. It came amid much speculation about the former prime minister’s condition.

However, his condition and the reason for him being admitted to IJN remain unknown.

Mahathir was previously admitted to IJN on Jan 7 for an elective procedure and was allowed to leave on Jan 13.

He has undergone heart bypass surgeries in 1989 and 2007.

Anwar, Najib pray for Dr M’s recovery

Opposition leader Anwar Ibrahim, who was once Mahathir’s deputy, said tonight he was praying for his former boss’ health. “Pray for aafiyah (freedom from ailment and suffering) for Mahathir, and may his family continue to be given tenacity and strength,” he tweeted.

Former prime minister Najib Razak also took to Facebook to express his hope that Mahathir would recover and be in good health.
