PETALING JAYA: Former prime minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad is being treated at the National Heart Institute (IJN), a spokesman has confirmed.
He is currently warded at IJN’s Coronary Care Unit (CCU), but his condition and reason for hospitalisation remain unknown.
Speculation began to circulate this afternoon that the Langkawi MP had been admitted, the latest in several admissions to IJN he has had over the past few months.
Earlier this month, he had gone in for an elective procedure, and in December he underwent a full medical checkup and was kept for six days for further observation.
Mahathir has undergone two bypass surgeries in 1989 and 2007.
