Man who collapsed at restaurant died from a heart attack, say cops

Hulu Selangor district police chief Arsad Kamaruddin calls for rumours on the man's death to stop, saying doctors confirmed the 54-year old had chronic heart disease.

The police were informed of the incident at 7am by a restaurant employee.

Police have confirmed that a man who reportedly collapsed while having his breakfast at a restaurant in Bukit Sentosa, Rawang earlier today died after suffering a heart attack.

Hulu Selangor district police chief Arsad Kamaruddin said they were informed of the incident at 7am by the restaurant’s employee.

“Doctors confirmed the cause of death was chronic heart disease,” he said in a statement today.

Serendah government health clinic later identified the 54-year-old man as Hamsan Hashim.

“The deceased’s wife also confirmed that he had heart disease and high blood pressure for the past five years and had been receiving regular treatment at Hospital Selayang,” he said.

According to Arsad, the victim’s body was taken to Hospital Kuala Kubu Bharu’s forensic medicine department for a Covid-19 screening test and an autopsy.

“He tested negative for Covid-19 and the doctor confirmed the cause of death was due to a coronary artery disease, which is a chronic heart disease.”

“Preliminary investigation by the police also found no criminal elements and the case was classified as sudden death,” he said.

Arsad also advised the public not to speculate on his death or share it on social media.

Earlier today, speculation on Hamsan’s cause of death went viral on social media with claims that he died due to a heart attack just after taking his booster dose.
