As countdown approaches, IGP tells revellers to obey SOPs

Police have reminded New Year revellers to abide by all Covid-19 SOPs.

Inspector-General of Police Acryl Sani Abdullah Sani said police would increase their patrols in areas frequented by these merrymakers.

He warned that action would be taken against those violating the SOPs under the Prevention and Control of Infectious Diseases Act 1988 (Act 342).

Yesterday, Kuala Lumpur police announced that they had banned fireworks displays at key hotspots, such as KLCC and the Pavilion Mall.

Fireworks displays to usher in the new year had always attracted large crowds previously.
