
Razarudin, 58, replaces Mazlan Lazim who will retire on Dec 25.
Home minister Hamzah Zainudin said the appointment received the consent of the Yang di-Pertuan Agong Sultan Abdullah Sultan Ahmad Shah after receiving the advice of Prime Minister Ismail Sabri Yaakob on the recommendation of the police commission.
“Razarudin has an excellent track record in crippling and fighting criminal activities throughout the country.
“I believe his new partnership with Inspector-General of Police Acryl Sani Abdullah Sani will strengthen the work of the police in maintaining security and public order,” Hamzah said.
Razarudin, who hails from Dengkil, Selangor, has served in the police force since Dec 27, 1982.
Prior to his latest appointment, he was head of the Penang CID, Perak serious crimes investigation department staff officer and the Perak deputy chief of police before being entrusted to lead the state contingent.
