No new party launch, just NGO members joining Parti Bangsa Malaysia

KLANG:
What was touted as the launch of Malaysia’s newest political party, Parti Bangsa Malaysia (PBM), turned out instead to be an event where an NGO claiming a membership of 50,000 declared it was joining the party.

The NGO, called Penggerak Komuniti Negara (PKN), is linked to plantation industries and commodities minister Zuraida Kamaruddin. It was formed under the auspices of the housing and local government ministry when she was its minister.

Speculation is rife that Zuraida, a Bersatu Supreme Council member, will join PBM.

PKN chairman Nor Hizwan Ahmad, who is also Zuraida’s aide, said PKN’s multiracial members would use PBM as their political platform to offer their agenda known as “The Great Reset 2030”.

Their agenda comprises six pillars: young people’s aspirations, being multiracial, women’s representation, education, economy and technology.

“Our agenda will address 30 years of stagnation and political immaturity,” he said at a press conference after the launch of The Great Reset 2030 agenda at the PKN convention this evening.

PBM was formerly known as Sarawak Workers Party. The new party constitution has been approved by the Registrar of Societies and it held an extraordinary general meeting on Nov 14, where the new line-up of leaders was elected.

PBM’s president is Mohamad Sukri Yusri, with Julau MP Larry Sng as deputy president and Tebrau MP Steven Choong as senior vice-president.

Nor Hizwan declined to answer when asked if Zuraida would join PBM.
