Retire, ‘Superman Hew’ tells Kit Siang

Hew Kuan Yau says the DAP veteran should talk less, quit and let newcomers lead the party.

After Lim Kit Siang’s comments on DAP’s failure in the Sarawak elections, former member Hew Kuan Yau says the party veteran should call it a day.
PETALING JAYA:
Former DAP strongman Hew Kuan Yau has advised DAP veteran Lim Kit Siang to retire from politics.

Commenting on the statement made by Lim after Saturday’s Sarawak elections, Hew said he should stop making comments about politics.

“Boss, talk less, make fewer announcements, retire early and let the newcomers lead DAP,” he said in a Facebook post today.

Hew, who is popularly known as “Superman Hew” for wearing Superman-motif T-shirts, left the party in 2016 following criticism over his comments concerning the South China Sea claims.

DAP contested in 26 seats in the elections but only managed to win two. In the 2016 polls, it won seven seats.

The party retained only the Pending and Padungan seats but lost in Kota Sentosa, Pujut, Pelawan, Bukit Assek and Tanjung Batu.

Lim believed that DAP would have won another five seats if not for the low voter turnout and the split in opposition votes.
