In a statement, Air Selangor said it has had to shut down its Semenyih 2 water treatment plant due to increasing water levels at its raw water pump house.
Earlier today, it said floods have affected three water treatment plants – Cheras Batu 11, Air Langat 2 and Sungai Langat – and disrupted water supply to 472 areas in the Klang Valley.
“The expected full operations time for all the water treatment plants is yet to be confirmed at this time,” it said in a statement at 7.30pm.
“It is crucial for Air Selangor to ensure that all equipment at the water treatment plants are in good condition and can be operated without endangering the safety of Air Selangor’s onsite staff, especially those involving electricity.”
It said 63 water tankers are being mobilised in stages to the affected areas, with priority given to critical premises during the unscheduled water supply disruption.
Separately, Bernama reported that several areas in Negeri Sembilan – such as Seremban, Rembau and Port Dickson – have experienced water supply disruptions following heavy rains and floods since yesterday.
Syarikat Air Negeri Sembilan said this was following the closure and decrease in water supply production at several of its water treatment plants after the intake points were flooded and the turbidity of raw water sources became high.
