He said the briefing would be carried out by the finance, and communications and multimedia ministries.
“At 1pm today, the (two ministries) will both provide clarification on issues raised yesterday.
“All MPs (will be involved), from both the government and the opposition,” he told a press conference after a public forum discussing the medicinal use of cannabis, hemp and ketum in Malaysia.
Zahidi said the briefing would seek to clarify comments he had made yesterday regarding “secret” talks between former communications and multimedia minister Saifuddin Abdullah and finance minister Tengku Zafrul Aziz on Digital Nasional Bhd (DNB) and 5G coverage.
He also said the situation had become chaotic when the finance ministry decided it wanted to take over the handling of the 5G rollout from his ministry.
“Now the finance ministry is taking over all that. The finance ministry wants to be the communications ministry,” he said.
On the possibility of the RM20 billion worth of projects undertaken by 5G and DNB being discussed in secret, Zahidi said he did not agree with it if this was the case.
“Don’t let this RM20 billion project be discussed (only) between Saifuddin and the finance ministry.
“We have to ask why some people want to keep mum,” he said.
