In a statement today, Bersatu president Muhyiddin Yassin said Yadzil was appointed to replace Mohd Rafiq Naizamohideen, who stepped down from his post as the state chief for both Bersatu and PN on Nov 26 following the coalition’s dismal performance in the Melaka state elections last month.
Yadzil was one of only two PN candidates – both from Bersatu – who won in the Melaka polls on Nov 20. He also heads Bersatu’s Jasin division and will remain as Melaka PN deputy chairman.
He graduated with a medical degree from Universiti Udayana Indonesia and served at Hospital Melaka from 2005 to 2009 before leaving the civil service to become a doctor at Hidayah Polyclinic in Jasin.
Muhyiddin also announced the appointment of Masjid Tanah MP Mas Ermieyati Samsudin as Melaka Bersatu’s new deputy chairman. The deputy law minister is also a member of Bersatu’s Supreme Council.
“The appointment of Yadzil and Mas Ermieyati to lead Bersatu in Melaka, as well as the restructuring of the party leadership in the state, will strengthen the party’s structure and improve its ability to provide services to the people of Melaka,” Muhyiddin said.
