KOTA KINABALU: Sabah earned RM1.4 billion from its sales tax on petroleum products from oil and gas companies this year, chief minister Hajiji Noor said today.
Hajiji added that as of Nov 28, some 98.9% of the amount, or RM1.385 billion had already been paid to the state.
He pointed out that the tax collection from petroleum products for this year was initially put at RM1.25 billion but that figure has since been revised to RM1.4 billion due to the increase in oil prices.
“Sabah has collected RM1.562 billion since the tax came into force in April last year,” he said, replying to a question by Luyang assemblyman Phoong Jin Zhe during question time in the state assembly here.
