Domestic trade and consumer affairs minister Alexander Nanta Linggi said in a statement today that the items are live and processed chicken; A, B and C-grade eggs; and several vegetables, such as long beans, red chillies, tomatoes, cabbage and cucumber.
Nanta said the prices for chicken and eggs will be announced soon in stages, namely at the farm, wholesale and retail levels.
For vegetables, the prices will be set at the wholesale and retail stages, he said.
“The list of items will be reviewed from time to time, with some added or removed based on the market situation,” he said.
Nanta added that strong action would be taken against anyone failing to comply with the price scheme.
“It is hoped that this measure will be implemented smoothly and help stabilise the prices of goods in the market.”
