Liew, who is a former deputy chief minister, said she also felt that the claim by Tawau PKR division youth chief Tommy Thomas merited no response from her.
“What is there to comment? This is because he represented himself — the statement was not issued by the state PKR Youth chief.
“So, there’s no need for me to answer this kind of accusations,” she told FMT.
The Tawau MP said such statements were also the norm as the party elections are due early next year.
“Every three years, when the party polls are around the corner, this kind of statements will always come out. This is true not only for PKR but other parties as well.”
Liew also claimed that she had never met Tommy despite doing ground work in Tawau every other week.
Tommy had earlier today called for a revamp of the state leadership, alleging that Sabah PKR had been facing a leadership crisis under Liew after she took over as acting chief from the previous head, Lajim Ukin, who had left in 2016.
He added the state chapter was once the most dominant opposition party but had since regressed under Liew.
He also claimed that 17 out of the 26 division heads had previously signed statutory declarations (SDs) rejecting Liew as the chief. He said these SDs had been handed over to PKR president Anwar Ibrahim.
“As such, I urge Anwar to immediately resolve this matter before it becomes worse,” he said, in a statement.
Following this, Sabah PKR information chief Chrisnadia Sinam issued a statement backing Liew, saying Tommy’s statement seemed to be laced with hatred and that he had chosen to ignore Liew’s contributions to the party.
