Retired state police chief dies of Covid-19 complication

Former Perak police chief Osman Salleh, 65, died at the Tuanku Ja’afar Hospital here this afternoon. His death was disclosed by his son Dr Mohd Hafiz Osman on his Facebook page.

It is understood that Osman, also a former police chief of Negeri Sembilan, died of a blood infection after being admitted with Covid-19 for six days.

Mohd Hafiz said his father was buried at the Ainsdale Town Muslim Cemetery in Labu here at about 5pm today.

Osman, who hailed from Seremban, graduated from Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia with a degree in social sciences and joined the police force more than 40 years ago. He served for seven years in Negeri Sembilan before being appointed as the 27th Perak police chief in December 2014. He retired in February 2016 and later became chairman of the Retired Senior Police Officers Association of Negeri Sembilan.
