KUANTAN:
Perikatan Nasional (PN) intends to contest in all 14 parliamentary seats and 42 state seats in Pahang in the next general election (GE15), says state coalition chairman Saifuddin Abdullah.

As part of the preparations, he said the component parties, namely Bersatu, PAS and Gerakan, met recently to discuss the allocation of seats, with each party sending two representatives.

“The three parties agreed that they should meet for an initial discussion and have a candid exchange to work out the seat allocation formula for GE15.

“For the time being, the possible seats that the parties want to contest must be finalised by the respective leaderships before they are approved by the coalition,” the Pahang Bersatu chief told reporters after attending the Indera Mahkota division’s annual conference here yesterday.

Asked on the relationship between Pahang Bersatu and PAS, Saifuddin said they enjoyed strong ties.

As preparations for GE15, the foreign minister said the priority of the state Bersatu was to heed the call of its president, Muhyiddin Yassin, to set up as many branches as possible to strengthen the party’s base.
