In a statement, Fahmi said the PKR central leadership discussed the party’s poor showing, in which it did not win any of the 11 seats contested using the PH logo.
Fahmi said the party’s preliminary findings was that the strict Covid-19 restrictions had made it difficult for PKR to introduce its new candidates, while the use of the PH logo also had an effect, in contrast to the 2018 general election when the PKR logo was used.
“This matter had been stressed by the PKR leadership and grassroots’ earlier on for the Melaka polls. However, since PKR understood the stand of our PH comrades at the time, we decided to agree to using the (PH) logo.
“However, moving forward, PKR’s view is that there is some justification for PKR’s logo to be used again. This matter will be discussed in further detail at the coming PH meeting,” he said.
On Nov 20, Barisan Nasional won 21 of the 28 state assembly seats, giving it a two-third majority. PH won five seats through DAP (4) and Amanah (1) while Perikatan Nasional won two.
DAP and PKR’s youth wings have traded barbs in the past over the use of the PH logo for the next general election.
