Prove that Prasana is with her father, Indira tells Perak police chief

PETALING JAYA:
M Indira Gandhi has challenged Perak police chief Mior Faridalathrash Wahid to prove that her daughter, Prasana Diksa, is with her father.

Earlier today, Mior refused to reclassify Prasana’s 2009 disappearance as a missing persons case, saying she is with Indira’s former husband, Muhammad Riduan Abdullah.

Indira, a kindergarten teacher, last week asked police to reclassify her daughter’s disappearance as a missing persons case because it would also allow Interpol to investigate the case.

Stressing that she is Prasana’s legal guardian, Indira said it seemed that Mior “doesn’t understand the case”.

“Riduan has no right to hold my daughter. This is kidnap,” Indira told FMT.

“Mior is claiming he doesn’t know where Riduan is, so he would not know where Prasana is, either.

“I’m challenging the CPO (chief police officer) to prove that Prasana is with Riduan.”

Prasana was one year old in 2009 when Riduan took her. He had previously unilaterally converted the couple’s three children to Islam, but a 2018 Federal Court ruling said both parents must agree on their children’s conversion. The court also ordered police to locate Riduan and Prasana, and to return the child to Indira.

Speaking to reporters at Aeon Kinta City in Ipoh today, Mior said police were still trying to determine Prasana’s location.

“We are still investigating the whereabouts of Prasana, but she is with her father. So, there’s no need to reclassify the case,” The Star quoted him as saying.

“We are still working on finding the location of Riduan and Prasana.”

The Ipoh High Court had in 2014 ordered police to inform the court and Indira about their progress in locating Prasana once a month until the child is located.

Last week, Indira filed a contempt of court application against the police on their alleged failure to affirm the monthly affidavits and to submit them to the Ipoh High Court from 2014 to 2020.

Indira had also previously lodged police reports in 2019 and 2020 asking police to reclassify the case as a missing persons case.

“I think this is the only way forward, to reclassify this as a missing persons case,” she said.

“She is nowhere to be found and no one has seen her alive (since 2010) despite a RM50,000 reward.

“What should a mother do?”
