Jho Low saga to become miniseries, with Michelle Yeoh as producer

The yet to be titled series will be based on the bestselling novel Billion Dollar Whale by two journalists.

Local and international authorities are still trying to establish the exact whereabouts of Low Taek Jho.
PETALING JAYA:
The saga revolving around Low Taek Jho – the fugitive financier in the centre of the 1MDB scandal – will be turned into a miniseries by the creator of the award-winning show “House of Cards”.

Beau Willimon’s series will also focus on the state investment arm, according to Malaysiakini.

It will be based on the book titled “Billion Dollar Whale: The Man Who Fooled Wall Street, Hollywood, and the World” by journalists Tom Wright and Bradley Hope.

The series will also be co-produced by SK Global, which previously financed “Crazy Rich Asians”.

Michelle Yeoh, who had starred in “Crazy Rich Asians”, is also set to produce the miniseries.

“It’s hard to overstate the cultural impact of this story in Asia and around the world.

“It’s both a tale of financial greed and deceit, and a darkly comedic social satire,” SK Global co-CEOs John Penotti and Charlie Corwin were quoted as saying by the portal.

Willimon and fellow executive producer Jordan Tappis said they were thrilled “to be able to bring this incredible story to life for a global audience”.

Earlier this month, home minister Hamzah Zainudin admitted that local and international authorities were still trying to establish the exact whereabouts of Low, better known as Jho Low.

A Red Notice has been issued against the Penang-born businessman by Interpol.
