Besides this, party secretary-general Lim Guan Eng said the heavily lopsided allocations in Budget 2022 for the different communities gave Malaysians the impression that the concept is beginning to look like it is mere lip service.

He said the attacks and counter-attacks using words like “stupid and evil” as well as challenges thrown to bring down the Johor state government also raise questions on the fragility of the federal government.

“With this intense animosity displayed by the leaders of the coalition, who are fighting like cats and dogs, how can the prime minister unite Malaysians and ensure political stability under his Keluarga Malaysia initiative?” he said in his speech at the Selangor DAP convention today.

He said Ismail had made more political appointments to government-linked companies and  special envoys with ministerial status than those carried out by Muhyiddin Yassin when he was prime minister.

“Is this the idea of Keluarga Malaysia? How can politicians contribute productively on specialised matters when they have no professional expertise?

“This is just like asking a politician to do a medical surgery or fly a plane,” he said.

Lim said there was also no meaning to the concept when government agencies are used as weapons against political opponents of the government as it smacks of double standards.

“Despite all its exhortations that it wants to be fair and unite Malaysians under the Keluarga Malaysia concept, the government has demonstrated that it is divisive and practises policies that favour cronies and certain communities at the expense of the rakyat.

“The prime minister’s concept of Keluarga Malaysia cannot be mere lip service but must be followed by action and policies that represent and benefit all Malaysians,” he said.
