MELAKA:
Barisan Nasional (BN) has launched its five-year manifesto for the Melaka polls, pledging to allocate equal funds for all 28 assemblymen should it form the next state government.

In launching the manifesto, themed “Stability for Prosperity”, BN deputy chairman Mohamad Hasan said its primary core was maintaining political stability by pushing for mature politics.

“Every assemblyman elected works for the people in every corner of this state, from the cities, to the villages and even the end of the state’s borders.

“Based on this policy, BN promises to prepare allocations for all 28 assemblymen, including non-government representatives, as a step to ensure prosperity for everyone in Melaka, regardless of political background,” he said.

BN is also proposing to amend the state constitution to appoint five non-elected assemblymen comprising youths and NGO leaders to widen the state assembly’s perspective beyond politics.

However, Mohamad said BN must win two-thirds of the state seats to do this.

“Once a country or a state is politically stable, only then can we generate confidence and bring investors in to achieve the development that we desire,” said Mohamad, who is fondly known as Tok Mat.

He said the second core was to boost the economy, and the third to improve the state’s governance, with a proposal to establish a Melaka youth state assembly.

The fourth core was to foster unity and harmony in the community and the fifth to ensure sustainable development and shared prosperity among all people in Melaka.

Mohamad said BN has identified several high-impact development projects as well as the need to provide public utilities and facilities in certain areas.

He said there was also a need to overcome the recurring issue of floods in the state.

“As a whole, these five strategies comprise 103 initiatives that are inclusive for the Melaka family, based on the principle that ‘no one is left behind’. All these will bring us stability for prosperity,” he said.
