Former Sabah chief minister Salleh Said Keruak said the thrust of the budget reflected the government’s continued strategy of wanting to help people across the board, irrespective of party leanings.
“From the Bantuan Rakyat 1 Malaysia (BR1M), Bantuan Sara Hidup (BSH), Bantuan Prihatin Nasional (BPN) to Bantuan Keluarga Malaysia (BKM), they are all basically a form of cash assistance for all. Of course, we welcome such help.

Finance minister Tengku Zafrul Aziz yesterday announced an allocation of RM332.1 billion for the 2022 budget. It is the biggest in the country’s history.
The budget represented an increase of RM9.6 billion from the RM322.5 billion for 2021.
Zafrul said the budget is meant to complement three main objectives, namely the well-being of people, ensuring business resilience as well as creating a sustainable economy.
