PETALING JAYA:
Barisan Nasional (BN) followed Covid-19 SOPs during a mass gathering held in Kuala Lumpur last night to launch the coalition’s Melaka state election machinery, according to secretary-general Zambry Abd Kadir.

He was responding to the RM10,000 compound fine issued by the health ministry to BN earlier today.

In a Facebook post, he said the gathering was moved to the World Trade Centre Kuala Lumpur (WTCKL) in view of the health ministry’s ban on assemblies related to the election campaign for the upcoming polls in the state.

He added that the attendees inside the hall at WTCKL abided by the SOP on maximum capacity as per the guidelines under Phase 4 of the national recovery plan.

Zambry said, however, that any gathering held outside of the hall was beyond the organiser’s control.

“Anyhow, as BN is bound by its principle to obey the rule of law, we will pay the compound,” he added.

The mass gathering last night, which was live-streamed, saw several hundred of the party’s members and prominent leaders present at WTCKL.
