
It is the lowest number of cases since June 22 when 4,743 infections were recorded.
In a statement, health director-general Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said the total number of infections now stands at 2,436,498.
He said there were 7,414 recoveries, bringing the total number of those discharged to 2,334,783.
There are 607 patients being treated in intensive care, 514 of whom were confirmed and 93 suspected to be Covid-19 positive.
Meanwhile, 300 patients required respiratory assistance, with 217 patients Covid-19 positive and the remaining 83 suspected of being positive.
There were 4,767 local infections today, comprising 4,575 Malaysians and 192 foreigners. There were also 15 imported cases.
Noor Hisham said that of the new infections, only 2% were Category 3, 4 and 5 cases.
The country’s Covid-19 infectivity rate stood at 0.88, with Kuala Lumpur having the highest R-nought level of 1.
Negeri Sembilan is the only other state with an R-nought level of 1.
