PETALING JAYA:
Seat negotiations among Perikatan Nasional (PN) component parties for the Melaka state election will be finalised soon, Bersatu said.

Its secretary-general, Hamzah Zainudin, said the Bersatu supreme council discussed preparations for the election, following the recent dissolution of the state assembly, last night.

“Bersatu is ready to face the Melaka state election,” he said in a statement.

Hamzah said PN state election committee chairman Mohd Rafiq Naizamohideen had finalised a strategy to mobilise the coalition’s entire grassroots machinery involving the component parties to face the polls.

He also said Bersatu and its allies would enhance the implementation of outreach programmes in constituencies in Melaka.

Earlier this month, Melaka Yang di-Pertua Negeri Mohd Ali Rustam said he had dissolved the state assembly following the retraction of support for chief minister Sulaiman Md Ali by four assemblymen, rendering his government without a majority.

The current administration remains as caretaker government until the state election.
