PETALING JAYA: Inland Revenue Board (LHDN) chief executive officer Sabin Samitah is resigning, claims a source in the know.
According to the well-placed source, Sabin’s last day will be on Friday. FMT has reached out to him for comment.
“He has informed LHDN’s senior management of his resignation,” the source said.
The reasons for his resignation are not clear, though allegations of abuse of power had been made against LHDN in recent weeks.
Former prime minister Najib Razak had lodged a police report against LHDN officials for allegedly “over-taxing” him.
Najib also said he forwarded evidence against LHDN to the police regarding certain LHDN officers who had abused their power and falsified documents in the tax case against him.
