The health minister encourages would-be travellers to go for a self-test before they return to their hometowns or go on vacation.

Health minister Khairy Jamaluddin says SOPs will continue even as states prepare to reopen their borders.
PETALING JAYA:
Only 0.9% more of the adult population needs to be fully vaccinated before interstate travel will be allowed to resume, says health minister Khairy Jamaluddin.

Nonetheless, Khairy reminded the people that the current SOPs would continue to be enforced, whether in restaurants, houses of worship or public spaces.

He also encouraged would-be travellers to go for a self-test before they return to their hometowns or go on vacation.

“Increase self-assessments by practicing TRIIS (testing, reporting, isolating, informing, seeking) as we jointly head towards reopening safely,” he said in a Twitter post.

As of midnight last night, 89.1% of the nation’s adult population were fully vaccinated while 94.6% have received at least their first dose. A total of 45,204,479 jabs have been administered.

Prime Minister Ismail Sabri Yaakob previously said state borders would be reopened and all tourism activities allowed to resume once 90% of adults have been fully immunised against Covid-19.

In terms of the total population, 64.3% have been fully vaccinated while 74.4% have received at least one dose.

While the Klang Valley, Labuan and Negeri Sembilan have among the highest fully vaccinated rates, less than 50% of the total population in Kelantan and Sabah have completed their jabs.
