Bung says sorry for calling opposition MPs ‘stupid’

Kinabatangan MP Bung Moktar Radin apologised and retracted his remark from last week, after being told to do so by Dewan Rakyat Speaker Azhar Harun.

Bung Moktar Radin claimed last week that the former Pakatan Harapan government had cut funding for the Pan Borneo Highway project.
KUALA LUMPUR:
Bung Moktar Radin (BN-Kinabatangan) apologised to the Dewan Rakyat for describing some opposition MPs as “stupid” during his debate on the King’s address last week.

During his debate, Bung had claimed that the Pakatan Harapan (PH) government had cut funding for the Pan Borneo Highway project, which prompted several opposition MPs to interject and ask him for proof.

He then replied that anyone asking for proof was “stupid”.

Today, Bung apologised and retracted his remark, after being told to do so by Dewan Rakyat Speaker Azhar Harun.

“I was in the middle of my debate when someone interrupted my speech without standing up. ‘Siapa makan cili, rasa pedasnya’ (if the shoe fits).

“But out of respect, I would like to retract my remark and apologise to the House,” he said.

Azhar had received a motion from Noorita Sual (PH-Tenom) over Bung’s claims against PH and his use of the word “stupid”.

He added that he will respond to Noorita on her gripe over Bung’s claims later, having already looked at the Dewan Rakyat Hansard on the Umno man’s speech and works minister Fadillah Yusof’s clarification on the matter.
