82.5% of adults fully vaccinated, says health ministry

According to the ministry's COVIDNOW website, 93.6% of the adult population have received at least one dose of the Covid-19 vaccine.

KUALA LUMPUR:
About 82.5% of the adult population, or 19,311,563 people in the country are fully vaccinated for Covid-19 as of yesterday.

Based on the health ministry’s data on the COVIDNOW website, 93.6% or 21,903,061 adults in the country have received at least one dose of the vaccine as of yesterday.

It also showed that among children aged 12 to 17, 0.8% or 25,326 have also received both doses of the Covid-19 vaccine.

A total of 273,373 doses of the vaccine were dispensed yesterday, with 116,881 getting their first dose and 156,492 their second dose, bringing the number of doses dispensed under the National Covid-19 Immunisation Programme (PICK) to 41,847,256.

PICK was launched on Feb 24 this year to curb the spread of the Covid-19 pandemic.

Meanwhile, 250 deaths due to Covid-19 were reported yesterday, with 49 of them brought-in-dead (BID) cases, bringing the total number of fatalities in the country to 24,931.

According to the ministry’s GitHub portal, of the total deaths reported yesterday, only nine cases were the actual deaths reported for the day, while the rest were backlog cases.
