Private firms in Phase 2 states with 80% of staff vaccinated against Covid-19 will be allowed to operate at 100% capacity.

The prime minister said contact sports will be allowed at full capacity, but limited to fully vaccinated individuals.
PETALING JAYA:
Contact sports like football, volleyball and sepak takraw will be allowed in both outdoor and indoor settings from Friday onwards, Prime Minister Ismail Sabri Yaakob announced today.

In a statement, he said these contact sports will be allowed at full capacity, although limited to fully vaccinated individuals and in premises that have “full supervision”.

This would mean people cannot take part in these sports in public parks.

He also announced that private companies in Phase 2 states with 80% of their staff vaccinated against Covid-19 will be allowed to operate at 100% capacity.

Staff vehicles with fully vaccinated passengers will be allowed at 100% vehicle capacity. Face-to-face meetings will also be allowed for fully vaccinated individuals.

He said the furniture factory and forestry sector, such as logging, will also be allowed to operate in Phase 2 and 3 states now.

Further, he said several businesses in Phase 1 states will also be allowed to operate. They are nurseries, souvenir shops, antique stores, toy stores, creative industry equipment stores, tobacco shops, outdoor stores as well as cosmetics, skincare and perfume shops.

Kindergarten and daycare centres in Phase 1 and 2 states will be allowed to operate on the condition that staff are fully vaccinated.

The government has also allowed recreational fishing activities for Phase 1 and 2 states for fully vaccinated individuals.

Visits to cemeteries will be allowed in all phases.

Meanwhile, the government has agreed to allow the transition of Terengganu to Phase 3 effective this Friday.

He said the flexibility given to the east coast state will be the same as that for states that have entered Phase 3 previously.

“However, following the relaxation of SOPs announced by the government recently, I find that people are starting to ignore the set SOPs.

“I hope people continue to abide by the SOPs to break the chain of Covid-19 infections,” he said.

He stressed that the government’s willingness to allow more flexibility does not mean that security measures that have been in place for more than a year can easily be ignored.
