The Parti Sarawak Bersatu man said in a statement today that he tested positive on Friday night, having originally been scheduled to fly to Kuala Lumpur today.
“I was asked to undergo quarantine until Sept 22, so I will have to be absent from Parliament until the quarantine is completed.
“I am experiencing mild flu-like symptoms and had a slight fever on Friday which subsided overnight.”
He said he was confident the vaccinations he had received some months ago had likely prevented his illness from becoming more serious.
“I strongly urge those who have not been vaccinated to get the vaccine. It could save your life.”
The parliamentary sitting, beginning tomorrow, will be the first after Ismail Sabri Yaakob became prime minister.
While Parliament briefly reconvened last month, it was put on hold towards the end of the first week of sittings after numerous staff members tested positive for Covid-19.
