MELAKA:
Seventeen people, including nine teenagers, were among those rounded up by Melaka police in private parties at two condominium units along Persiaran Sungai here last night.

State criminal investigation department (CID) chief Mohd Sukri Kaman said police raided the venues as part of Ops Noda at 11pm. Those detained were aged 17 to 35.

He said the participants were busy enjoying themselves when police raided the apartments and found several bottles of alcoholic beverages in the units.

He said two teenage girls were among those picked up.

“A urine test found a 19-year-old positive for methamphetamine,” he said in a report by Sinar Harian.

Sukri said police believe the individuals involved had rented the two apartment units for RM450 a night solely for the purpose of entertaining themselves.

He said those detained will be issued summonses under the Prevention and Control of Infectious Diseases Act meant to control the spread of Covid-19.
