Man stabs brother in head with scissors over money

PETALING JAYA:
A man stabbed his brother in the head with a pair of scissors after an argument over money in Kampung Pintas, Beaufort, in Sabah.

In the 5.30pm incident yesterday, the 31-year-old suspect was said to have gone into a rage when he failed to obtain cash from his mother to buy drugs, Berita Harian reported.

Beaufort police chief Yusoff Zaki Mat Yaacob said the suspect then started thrashing some items while shouting. His 25-year-old brother scolded him for his behaviour, but was attacked by the suspect.

Yusoff said in the scuffle that ensued, the suspect grabbed a pair of scissors and stabbed his brother in the head.

“Their mother immediately broke them apart when she saw what happened. The victim, who was wounded in the head and chest was taken to Hospital Beaufort for further treatment.

“After a police report was made by family members, a team from the Beaufort district Criminal Investigation Department arrested the suspect and seized the scissors used,” Yusoff was quoted as saying by Berita Harian.

He added that the suspect was a drug addict and he needed money to feed his addiction.

“Further investigations are ongoing under Section 324 of the Penal Code for voluntarily causing hurt with a weapon,” he said.
