Bangi MP Ong Kian Ming and Bandar Kuching MP Dr Kelvin Yii said there was a need for timely updates of vaccination status on MySejahtera.
They said some individuals who have been fully vaccinated under the national Covid-19 immunisation programme (PICK) and Selangor’s Covid-19 vaccination programme were still waiting for their vaccinations to be reflected in the application.
“This delay in the update presents obstacles for affected individuals to go to workplaces which require employees to be fully vaccinated.
“It is also problematic when it comes to enjoying privileges such as dining in and buying groceries for those who are fully vaccinated,” they said in a joint statement today.
Ong and Yii said there was also a need for quick rectification of mistakes in the updating of vaccine information on MySejahtera when a request is made via the helpdesk function.
They also said the MySejahtera status of those who had their identity used by someone else at vaccination centres should be updated.
“Some foreigners have had their passports used to register another person to be vaccinated. This is akin to identity theft via MySejahtera,” they said.
The MPs said many adults who had registered their parents as dependents would like to transfer their digital vaccination certificates to them, especially those who did not live together.
This should be done in a timely and transparent manner for their parents to also enjoy the privileges of the fully vaccinated.
They said a proper SOP needed to be included in MySejahtera through online verification and “interoperable” block-chain recognition for those who had their vaccinations abroad as the current practice, which required an individual to go to the nearest district health office, was cumbersome and not practical.
The process of updating the MySejahtera status post-Covid-19 recovery should be streamlined and automated, they said, adding that individuals who did not update their daily status at the end of the day would receive a call from MySejahtera the next day.
“Furthermore, allow those returning from overseas to have shorter quarantine periods or home quarantine if they are fully vaccinated and this requires faster processing by the health ministry and updating of MySejahtera vaccinations status,” they said.
Ong and Yii also said the MySejahtera digital contact tracing capacity to trace at least 80% of all close contacts within 24 hours should be improved, and that a better alert system should be created to notify them immediately.
“This should be part and parcel of the Find, Test, Trace, Isolate and Support (FTTIS) national testing policy to ensure that the number of Covid-19-related cases remains low and under control when the full effect of the national vaccination programme is in place,” they added.
