The former health minister said the decision was made considering the small number of Klang Valley residents who were yet to be vaccinated and the low attendance at such centres.
“I want to announce that walk-in vaccinations in the Klang Valley will end after Sept 15,” he said at an event with health minister Khairy Jamaluddin.
Adham added that certain government health clinics (Klinik Kesihatan) would start giving vaccines from Sept 16 onwards. The list of such clinics will be announced soon.
Walk-in jabs will still be offered in other states, he said, though members of the public are advised to keep up to date with announcements on this by their respective state health departments.
Adham also spoke of a need to encourage students in higher education institutions and matriculation programmes nationwide to get vaccinated.
He said 195,000 students (37.5%) in public universities and 51,000 (10.2%) in private universities have not been vaccinated yet.
As at Sept 7, Adham said 547,595 students in public and private universities had been fully vaccinated.
