
State local government and housing minister Masidi Manjun said out of the 2,404 new cases detected over the past 24 hours, 27 were infants under the age of one.
“Another 183 were children aged between one and five while 455 cases involved those aged between six and 17,” he said in a brief text message.
According to data over the past week since Aug 27, a total of 5,763 people from infants to teenagers were infected in Sabah, with 249 of them babies aged below one.
Meanwhile, Masidi said close contacts made up the bulk of the infections today with 1,393 cases or 57.9%, while symptomatic screenings accounted for 755 cases (31.4%).
He added that 65 cases came from existing clusters.
“A total of 2,174 cases involved locals and the rest were foreigners,” he said.
He said the state capital remained the district with the most infections at 387, followed by Sandakan (256), Tuaran (232) Penampang (173), Papar (167) and Tawau (164).
Masidi said of the 2,404 cases, which was 75 more than yesterday’s numbers, 40.9% or 983 cases were registered two to three days after the test results were known, 127 cases were four to five days late, and another 261 cases were registered later than five days.
“And as of yesterday, 41.5% of the adult population had received full vaccination while 60.5% had received at least one dose of the vaccine,” he said.
