19,378 Covid-19 cases, 330 deaths

There are 259,189 active cases with 975 patients in intensive care and 463 needing respiratory assistance.

PETALING JAYA:
The health ministry has reported 19,378 Covid-19 cases and 330 deaths in the past 24 hours.

In a Twitter post, health director-general Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said the total number of infections now stands at 1,805,382.

He said there were 22,399 recoveries, bringing the total number of those discharged to 1,528,672.

There are 259,189 active cases with 975 patients being treated in intensive care and 463 requiring respiratory assistance.

Meanwhile, the 330 deaths take the number of fatalities to 17,521.

Selangor recorded the highest number of cases with 3,613.

This was followed by Sarawak (2,464), Sabah (2,404), Johor (2,331), Penang (1,726), Kedah (1,470), Perak (1,389), Kelantan (1,356), Kuala Lumpur (740), Pahang (559), Terengganu (532), Melaka (399), Negeri Sembilan (270), Perlis (80), Putrajaya (41) and Labuan (4).

There were 19,364 local infections today, as well as 14 imported cases.

The 330 who died comprised 268 Malaysians and 62 foreigners. All but 66 had existing medical conditions while 93 were brought in dead.

Selangor also reported the highest number of fatalities with 148, followed by Penang (38), Johor (37), Sabah (35), Kedah (21), Perak (15), Melaka (11), Kelantan (11), Sarawak (6), Pahang (4), Terengganu (2) and Kuala Lumpur (2).

Noor Hisham also said that as of yesterday, the country’s Covid-19 infectivity rate stood at 0.97.

Sarawak recorded the highest R-nought level with 1.20, followed by Perlis (1.15), Johor (1.09), Terengganu (1.07), Sabah (1.06), Penang (1.05), Kedah (1.03), Kelantan (1.03), Perak (1.01), Pahang (1.00), Putrajaya (0.95), Selangor (0.90), Melaka (0.88), Kuala Lumpur (0.81), Negeri Sembilan (0.81) and Labuan (zero)

About 98% or 19,046 cases are Category 1 and 2, while 13,485 new cases, or 69.6%, involved individuals who have not been vaccinated or completed their vaccinations.
