Supervisor, 9 foreign workers nabbed for working during quarantine period

Police say they were found wearing their pink wristbands during the raid.

Police said the supervisor had ordered the nine foreign workers, staying on the upper floor of a factory, to return to work.

Nine foreign workers and a local employer were arrested for infringing standard operating procedures (SOPs) under Phase Two of the national recovery plan yesterday.

Kampar district police chief Hasron Nazri Hashim said an inspection by the Covid-19 task force at 12.30pm at the Gopeng 2 industrial area found the 10, who were wearing pink wristbands, working.

“The 32-year-old supervisor and nine workers, aged 25 to 40, were supposed to be undergoing quarantine from Aug 18 to 27.

“The supervisor had ordered the nine foreign workers, staying on the upper floor of the premises, to return to work on the ground floor at 8am yesterday,” he said in a statement here.

The case is being investigated under Section 269 of the Penal Code and Regulation 16 of the Prevention and Control of Infectious Diseases Regulations. The investigation paper would be referred to the deputy public prosecutor for further action.
