
Speaking to reporters, the Umno man said MN, forged by his party and PAS, could invite Bersatu into the fold to ensure a stronger and more inclusive alliance.
For the record, Umno had already rejected cooperation with Bersatu at its annual general meeting earlier this year, and the party’s withdrawal of support for Muhyiddin Yassin, which led to his downfall, has strained ties between the two Malay parties.
Annuar said in his view, inviting Bersatu into the fold would strengthen MN as the party, along with Umno and PAS, are the three main parties in Peninsular Malaysia.
“I was involved in drawing up the MN charter and it contains a goal that has not been accomplished, which is the forming of an alliance between the various communities in the country.
“Let’s use this opportunity to work towards a more mature way of politics. Let’s learn from the political instability we’ve faced.
“It does not benefit anyone. All parties must come together,” he told reporters after flagging off a convoy of volunteers sending aid to flood victims in Kedah.
