Shooting at Sarawak air force base, 3 believed dead

Three Royal Malaysian Air Force (RMAF) personnel are believed dead in a shooting incident that occurred at the Kota Samarahan base in Sarawak early this morning.

Bernama reported that at least four air force personnel were involved in the incident, which took place at 7.15am today.

According to sources, three of the personnel, all with the rank of corporal, were believed to have died while one was severely injured in the incident that took place during the change of guards.

Preliminary investigations found that the four personnel were on duty at their guard post.

“The cause of the incident is under investigation. But three personnel died at the scene while one was badly injured and is being treated at the Sarawak Heart Centre,” the source said.

Sarawak police chief Aidi Ismail confirmed the incident, saying a statement will be released later today.
