Shazni had been undergoing treatment for Covid-19 and was listed as a Category 5 patient less than a week ago.

The Amanah Youth leader tested positive on July 19, and on July 24, it was reported that his wife and children had also been infected.

On social media, Shazni’s comrades have begun paying tribute to him and offering their condolences to his family.

Former PKR Selangor Youth leader Najwan Halimi shared photos of them together with a message of condolence.

“May you rest in peace, my dear comrade,” he said in a tweet.

Opposition leader Anwar Ibrahim, Muar MP Syed Saddiq Syed Abdul Rahman and Lembah Pantai MP Fahmi Fadzil also extended their condolences.

“A young man taken before his time by Covid-19. My condolences to his family and Amanah members,” Fahmi said.

Activist Mandeep Singh said: “Farewell Shazni. I can’t believe and can’t accept this.”
